These drugs lower your blood pressure. We use them to treat high blood pressure and other heart issues. They correct abnormal heart rhythms. They treat congestive heart failure, and chest pains we call "angina." They can help prevent heart attacks. And they help with migraines and some types of tremors.

These drugs lower the level of LDL cholesterol in your blood. LDL cholesterol is known as "bad" cholesterol. Having high levels of bad cholesterol is dangerous. It sticks to artery walls to form plaque. Plaque causes blood clots to form. It can break away and clog blood vessels. By reducing bad cholesterol, we lower your risk for heart disease and stroke.

This prescription drug (sold under the brand names Prinivil®, Qbrelis®, Zestril® and Zestoretic®) treats high blood pressure. We also use it to treat heart failure and heart attack. Lisinopril belongs to a class of drugs we call "ACE inhibitors."

This prescription drug (sold under brand names such as Amvaz®, Katerzia®, Norvasc®, Azor® and Caduet®) treats high blood pressure. We also use it to treat some types of chest pain, and coronary artery disease. Amlodipine belongs to a class of drugs we call "calcium channel blockers."

This prescription drug (sold under brand names such as Cozaar® and Hyzaar®) treats high blood pressure. We also use it to prevent or treat issues like stroke and kidney disease in people who have high blood pressure, heart problems or diabetes. Losartan belongs to a class of drugs we call "angiotensin II receptor antagonists."

This prescription drug (sold under brand names such as Lipitor®, Caduet® and Liptruzet®) lowers cholesterol. We commonly use it to reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke in people who have heart disease (or who are at risk of developing it). Atorvastatin belongs to a class of drugs we call "statins."

This prescription drug treats high blood pressure. We also commonly use it to treat edema. That's a condition that causes fluid to build up in your body. Hydrochlorothiazide is in a class of drugs we call "diuretics." We commonly call them "water pills."
